My cute Dendrobium cuthbertsonii Orchid setup FAILED! time for something new!
Hello Dany, thank you so much for your tutorials, I am watching them even though I don’t have the orchids you’re talking about. I have 15 phals and they’re doing well, at least most of them. I have one that is not very robust, one that is straggling right now. It was a present from my sister and I would love to keep it forever. It looks dehydrated a bit, doesn’t have many roots left after repotting. It has a basal keiki, but this has a terminal spike. Right now it has a flower spike with 5 buds. Q: what should I do? I was thinking to cut the flower spike, but is a terminal spike, would this keiki survive? I could send you a picture but don’t know how. 😢 If you get my question and have an answer/ solution for my situation please let me know. PS - I know you are in the process of moving and this might not be a good time for you. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration
This is exactly the information I needed. You are AWESOME Danny❤
Noooo I just put rubbing alcohol on my Phal roots 😅😅😅 I did rinse off the rubbing alcohol on most of them like 30 seconds after application??? They’re ok. :/
I thought paid members wouldn't have to deal with the commercials...has that changed?
Great video. I have ordered species orchids from Hauserman. Love them!
Fast forward to 13:30 🤦🏻♀️😂
Orchid Nurseries in the US: Akatsuka Orchids and Carmela Orchids, Sun Valley Orchids (SVO), Seattle Orchids, Odom's Orchids, Krull' & Smith, Quest Orchids, R.F. Orchids, Cal Orchids, Gold Country Orchids, Spring Orchids, Ed Huntington Orchids and Tropicals, Hausermann Orchids. Each has their own specialties. Find the ones you love. I especially recommend finding festivals to go to! They are FUN!
I'd also like to add Brookside Orchids in CA. I have ordered from them often and sent gifts of blooming Orchids to loved ones. I have never been disappointed. Good luck!
I second Brookside Orchids. I live in CA. I have a lot of orchids from them, good price and strong plants. I like Norman Orchids too. I personally feel that their Phals and paphs are better than Brookside.
Great video. Thanks, I live in South Florida and very rarely gets “cold “. I keep my orchids on my east facing terrace. How can I get my Phals and Vandas to bloom? I fertilize every week
❤ Love these Q&A's. ❤
I do find the spray-on fertilisers are excellent for any set-up which leaves the roots bare; with a tiny collection (5 orchids at the moment), I struggled so much to mix up concentrated fertiliser appropriately, so buying it pre-mixed is perfect for me. The larger bottle of MSU spray from RepotMe lasts me...half a year? It never touches the foliage, just the roots after watering. So those sprays do have their uses, just...not for foliar feeding 🤣
As a fragrance lover myself, I am a big fan of RUclips channels like Redolessence and Big Beard Business. They have done a lot with fragrance development and may be able to help you. Also an avid bonsai tree and orchid fan. Love your videos. Thanks for demystifying orchids. I love them now. Just have a few vandas and 3-4 phalaenopsis...but my plants are my therapy
Dani thanks I love you your Q&A. I learn so much.
Hi Dani! Thanks for the video. I have an obsession with the “Novelty Phals” aka Polychilos. I was drooling here in S. Florida seeing them on your shelf. Different kind of question- I have an Orchid Channel too and I wanted to know if have tips to grow my channel. Also what are your tips to grow healthy novelty Phals?
Hello! Thank you so much for your videos! How do we know when an orchid is in a hopeless state and not worth the time anymore? In other words, how do we know when to "let go" or if there is still reasonable "hope?" :)
I received a Mini Mark in Jan it had 2 buds, it looked good. The top leaf was small and curled a bit. Approximately 6 weeks later the buds blasted. I figured I did something wrong. No big deal I’ll get leaves to grow and flowers next yr. The top leaf seems to have curved a bit more and has barely grown. There is no sign of another leaf coming. I decided I wanted some flowers and they had another type,so I had my daughter get me a Mini Mark “Holms” Micro Nova x philippinesis . Wow what a name. It was blooming both sides, the pink spots on the flowers and the top leaf was normal. That was ~10 weeks ago. Now the top leaf is curling, there is not another leaf growing. Both were from the same nursery. Also note because the buds blasted on the Mini Mark I don’t know if the flowers have the pink spots or not. Time will tell what happens. I’ll keep you posted. ♥️Carol
Great video! Thank you for sharing❤
OMG! Danny! Thank you sooo much for answering my question on my terminal spike and Keikis, I will be watching your videos on them both. So far so good the blooms are gorgeous! You educated me so much! Thanks again! ❤❤❤
Enjoyed the tour, having so many to take care of is huge job. Awesome job to you
The question about keikis was exactly what I needed!! My phalaenopsis is growing a little keiki and I had no idea what it even was. Thank you, Danny❤
Canada has native orchids which have learned to live with our freezing temperatures. I don’t know if the Greek orchid grower gets any frost or if Canadian orchid would be available in Greece, but there has to be orchids which she could grow in her garden. I expect it would take lots of research and possibly experience growing. Good luck.
9:22 Hi, I've had this phalaenopsis orchid for three years. I watched all of your beginner videos (thank you 🙂) Anyway, it keeps making new leaves and the roots are great, but it won't grow a stem. I have soaked it in warm water with fertilizer in it. What am I doing wrong? Please help me! Kind regards, Lisa
Hi, I answer this in this video :)
@@MissOrchidGirl After I wrote that, you told me about temperatures at night. LoL I really enjoy your videos, thank you 😊
I have a "Just Add Ice" Orchid. I live in Welland Ontario Canada in an Apartment facing east. I use Miracle Grow spray fertilizer and My Orchid is doing Awesome. I use three ice cubes once a week and give the leaves a light spray of the fertilizer at the same time. Thank you for your inspirations. Terry
Hi, I never inspired anyone to put ice on their orchids, quite the opposite I always advised against it, as I said in this video I believe frigid water can damage roots 😬 good luck! 🤞
Why won't anyone tell me what demon laughs in the background????? 😂😂😂
Demon??? 😂😂😂 it’s just a ringneck dove, the whitest, fluffiest, silliest and most harmless thing in the universe 🤭
A dove makes that sound??? For real? I have nesting mourning doves at my house but if I heard that it would give me nightmares!!😂😂
Hi Danny I bought a new orchid and the species is lady slipper orchid and I need some tips on how to grow it properly
She has some videos on Paphiopedilum orchids. (Lady slippers are the cute nick name for those) just search her page, you’ll find some good videos for them- keep in mind they are more terrestrial and need slightly different care than epiphytic orchid like the standard phalaenopsis
Hi Danny I bought a new orchid and the species is lady slipper orchid and I need some tips on how to grow it properly
Hi, you have a beginner tutorial in the description of my videos :)
When is the best time to fertilize?
Depending on the orchid, at any time :)
This video is sponsored by rePotme, check them out here go.missorchidgirl.com/repotme116 They also provided products like pots, clips, some of the stakes and fertiliser I used in this video.
I’m a subscriber and interested in getting a vanda, except they are not available in my area, which is probably why I don’t watch the videos. Hope you still feature them every now and again. I hope to one day.
Hi Danni. When you kept saying you came from Romania I just assumed American English was taught to you at school. I like the way you use words like "shall" which Americans don't seem to use. BTW-how many languages can you speak in? Lovely orchid presentation yet again.

Can i regrow from the stems that i have pruned the orchids
Besides water and semi shade what else do orchids need?
No sound 😢??
You're super helpful, thank you. ❤
Hey Danny!!!! Do u know any nurseries in Romania besides secret garden or flower shops ? I can’t find seedlings nowhere only online
Some of mine was like those..I washed the plant with dawn dish soap and rinsed really well, then I mixed some miracle grow soil in with the orchid growing medium then I watered and let them soak for 5 hrs , drained and now all are fabulous, one even grew a baby on the stem..and the blooms are absolutely beautiful..so basically they got a good bath, roots trimmed repot with some some miracle grow potting soil mixed in just a teaspoon per plant..❤
Pleasant Video Presentation ❤ Cute,.... wonder how nice my Lions Mane would grow in there? Nice clean home 😃
I was wondering how I got a baby and flowers 😂
Hello Ms. Orchid. Can you believe that I have had an orchid for 11 years? It bloomed for three years and had a keiki, which I still have alive. Then, it stopped blooming for a few years. I guess it was because I moved and she did not like the new environment. But, 3 years ago, I moved again to a cooler apartment and it bloomed again and the flowers were so pretty and so many and lasted for 6 months. I moved back again to my old apartment, which is warmer and doesn't have too much sunlight, but in March of this year, I noticed that it was shooting a new flower spike and it bloomed again in May. It has only a few flowers, and I hope they last for a little longer. It is really hot in NYC right now. But, I love my orchid so much. It's been 11 years together and I will never give up on her and on her keiki. Thank you for all your videos. I always come back to them to make sure I am trying my babies the right way. Thank you!!
Hows your grammatophyllum Danny
I think tissue culture (propagation by cutting a leaf) can be done with orchids. It would probably be tricky for a home grower, but labs do it successfully with other plants.
Haveing a slow grow ,bought in june with two stem now no change, waiting for roots to grow, need patience
I love how you speak English though. It’s so pretty and articulate. You’re the reason my living room was a greenhouse with my orchids before I lost them ❤
Why are you getting rid of your beautiful greenhouse, and all your beautiful orchids😢😢
… as I was saying.. cos I am moving into my own house and my orchids are coming with me 🤭 you’re not getting rid of my videos no worries
@@MissOrchidGirl OH THANK YOU DANNY, I AM FROM SOUTH AFRICA, AND MUST TELL YOU SOMETHING YOU DO NOT KNOW, I LEARNED A LOT FROM YOUR VIDEOS AND WHAT YOU TAUGHT US. I love your videos. I have my oncidiums potted with lava rock and charcoal. Would like to know if it is ok. To water everyday.😂
Oh no be very careful separating your zygos. It took mine 3 years to recover after I did that and I was so gentle... I'm no orchid green thumb at all but it was definitely a wrong move for me. 😫 they were always too wet afterwards and they finally picked up when I put them back together. Love your videos so much and am happy to see you have zygos ❤
Oh I also put my Zygo in straight sphagnum so that the moss would keep them from getting too wet. I just mist them and they stay moist but never wet 💖
Thank you for your support ❤
Hi, I have more of a question than a comment. Iwant to start using grow lights as I grow my orchids on my porch. However, a little less than 2/3 are below the line of bright light. My space is small and compact and so are the shelving of my plant stand. That area appears a little dark to me. No new blooms from them this year. What help and advice can you offer me
